Since January 01st 2021 the UK left the EU & the single market including the customs union. Whilst we continue to ship to the EU, we can no longer send food stuff which is a prohibited import item in all EU countries. This includes from our ranges for example; chocolate, teas, biscuits, trail bars, dips, crisps and sweets. Should you checkout with these in your basket we will contact you for a substitution or refund of those items.
Spain (as well as prohibiting food) has the additional restrictions of not allowing any bath or beauty products to be imported into the country. This includes bath salts, balms, perfumes, soaps, nail varnish, and any beauty pro facemasks (spacemasks and fabric facemasks are accepted).
As of July 01st 2021 we have registered DDP (delivered duty paid) which means we, the company, will bear the risks and costs including duties, taxes, and other charges including administration fees when we deliver goods on your behalf that are cleared for importation. This is applicable to package deliveries to the Republic of Ireland, France, Germany, Netherlands, Austria, Italy, and Spain. This means you will not receive any further charges after checkout to deliver your goods.
For EU countries not listed above, we can still deliver our packages but please note your recipient will have to pay duty & local tax charges - typically 10-15% of your package price - and content-dependent. We will in turn refund you, the purchaser, these fees but it is unavoidable red tape that we have to export into these countries. Please do contact us at support@brownpaperpackages.co.uk if you need clarification or any further import information to your destination country.
HOSPITAL DELIVERY
Care Package Delivery to hospitals
We offer delivery to hospitals and will do everything we can to help you ensure your parcel successfully reaches its recipient. You should include the building name (where required) and also the patient's ward number and NSH number (if known) in case they move wards.
For NHS hospitals, parcels are delivered to the parcel room so we recommend you allow a week for the parcel to then be delivered to the ward. If the patient is only in for a short stay we recommend that you deliver the parcel to a home address adding a 'preferred delivery date' at the checkout for when you think they will return home. If the parcel is delivered to a hospital ward after the patient has left, the ward should contact the patient and the patient will need to go and collect the parcel.
If a parcel goes missing and you must locate it you can contact PALS (Patient Advise Liason Service) at the hospital, providing as much information as possible. DPD tracking provides an image of the delivery which can help the hospital to locate the parcel room & parcel. It will be important to provide the patient's full name, NHS number, and ward number. Sadly we can not take responsibility for the hospital losing the parcel once it is delivered.
