10 Ways to improve wellbeing strategy and support employees

10 Ways to improve wellbeing strategy and support employees

A good employee well-being strategy is key to running a successful business. So we’ve compiled a list of 10 ways you can make a start with improving your employee wellbeing strategy!

1. Prioritise improving your wellbeing strategy

The first thing to do is make sure you're prioritising improving your wellbeing strategy! You're here so hopefully you've already got this one down. Your wellbeing strategy is at the heart of what makes a company a nicer place to be. What comes with that, is more productivity and success. Following these steps and taking some action to improve your wellbeing strategy is going to make a profound impact on employee wellbeing!

2. Reward schemes

A classic way to show someone you appreciate them is to get them a gift! Reward schemes can work in a similar way. If people do well at work, reward them! Our favourite way to reward people personally is to get them a gift… Why not check out some of our gift boxes or build your own and implement them into a reward scheme in your office. Reward schemes are bound to improve your wellbeing strategy.

3. Offer flexible Working

In the current corporate climate flexible working has become the norm. It’s important to allow employees to prioritise their wellbeing. With flexible working, productivity is actually meant to increase1 despite that being the main reason some employers are scared to implement it!

4. Create a positive work environment

A negative work environment can be detrimental to employee morale & wellbeing, and negates any effects of a good wellbeing strategy. Since this is the case, the office should be somewhere people feel comfortable sharing ideas and working together. This must be encouraged as productivity and employee wellbeing will take a big hit if people aren’t happy coming to work!

5. Recognise good work / Achievements

Similar to implementing reward schemes it’s key that staff are appreciated when they do well at work. Make sure good work and milestones are celebrated verbally at least. You can get more fun with it too – office events based on employees' successes will boost the morale and wellbeing of everyone in the office!

6. Encourage personal development

Nothing is more defeating than feeling stuck at a certain level. Make it a priority when improving wellbeing strategy to allow employees to develop new skills and progress in their role. Learning something new, and improving skills day in day out are bound to increase levels of wellbeing.

7. Provide healthier, tastier food options

A healthy gut = a happy mind. To improve your wellbeing strategy, offer better food options in the workplace and make sure staff are eating right! It’s much harder to maintain certain levels of productivity and mental wellbeing if you’re not fuelling your body with the right stuff! Check out this article on how to implement healthy eating habits in the workplace.

8. Make the workplace more social

Co-workers aren’t meant to sit in silence all day like robots. Try to encourage a more social environment at work. Not only does this do a whole lot for improving wellbeing, but studies have shown that productivity increases in relaxed environments2 – so reduce the tension!

9. Raise mental health awareness within the office – make people feel comfortable.

Mental health issues shouldn’t be taboo in the office. They’re very common and pretending they don’t exist when people show up to work can be very detrimental to employee wellbeing. It’s key that people feel comfortable in their work environment. Perhaps get someone in a role dedicated to handling mental health issues in the office – talking helps, so give employees someone to talk to!

10. Make the office aesthetically pleasing

Making the office somewhere that is pleasant visually can really help boost wellbeing levels. No one wants to be sat in a grey cubicle 5 days a week. So to avoid that being the case, make sure to make the physical office environment a priority when trying to improve wellbeing strategy. Make the office space somewhere people want to be! Again this won’t only improve wellbeing, but productivity too! Check out this study if you don’t believe us ?
