How to make staff more productive through wellbeing improvement.

How to make staff more productive through wellbeing improvement.

In our opinion, the most efficient way to improve productivity amongst employees is to improve their wellbeing. Better workplace wellbeing is the foundation of being satisfied with a corporate job, and better job satisfaction plays a key role in staff putting in 110% effort day in - day out. Without good workplace wellbeing there isn’t nearly as much motivation for staff to put in any more effort than is needed.

What’s The Link?

Put simply “satisfaction leads to productivity.” But why?

A study by the International Journal of Productivity and Performance Management[1] found that increased stress levels reduced productivity and higher job satisfaction increased it! This is just down to the fact that when people feel comfortable in an environment they tend to excel. We think that wellbeing is at the core of a workforce's ability to improve productivity and isn’t an aspect of working life that can be ignored by employers.

How to improve wellbeing effectively

Now that we’ve had a brief look at why better wellbeing improves productivity. We can give you some tips on how to improve wellbeing in your workplace! ?

Improve the working environment

Try and embrace a more open workplace culture with more social events. It’s not always so bad to mix work and pleasure! These sort of activities improve team chemistry and will definitely create a more positive atmosphere in the office that will improve productivity. Co-workers can be friends!

Focus on mental health

Whilst physical health remains important – it’s crucial to prioritise and check on employee mental health. Perhaps through a specialist mental health role, or maybe training managers to be able to have those difficult conversations. Better employee mental health will help improve productivity in the office.

Offer more flexible working

In the current corporate climate, not having some kind of flexible working strategy can really hinder employee wellbeing. It’s crucial to give employees the flexibility to prioritise their wellbeing and personal life to maximise their productivity at work.

Increase career development options

Make sure employees feel like they’re progressing. Nothing hurts staff wellbeing more than a feeling of not progressing at work. You should try to create career development options that staff can take up to get a real idea of the progression they’re making.

Utilise platforms like “headspace”

There are so many platforms now that focus on mental health and wellbeing, it’s not a bad idea to try and implement them in the office. Encouraging employees to take wellbeing into their own hands a bit will definitely help with improving overall wellbeing in the workplace and in turn improve productivity.

Reward employees

Our favourite method of improving wellbeing! Giving employees rewards for milestones or welcoming new employees with gifts or gift boxes is a great way to keep morale high and wellbeing positive. Check out some of our gift boxes and get a head start on this one!
