Love Languages – Ways to show your loved ones you care.

Did you know that there are 5 love languages? They are words of affirmation, acts of service, receiving gifts, quality time and physical touch. Without further ado, here’s our guide to showing your loved ones how important they are to you by using the five love languages....

Words of Affirmation

Words of Affirmation are words that communicate your love, appreciation and respect for another person.

  • Why not write your loved one a heartfelt letter listing all the things you love about them.
  • Sit down with your loved one and tell them how much you value them and what your relationship means to you.
  • In a hurry? Why not send a cute text message over to your best friend/ partner telling them that you love them, it’ll make them smile and brighten up their day!

Acts of Service

Acts of service mean doing something helpful for someone else such as walking their dog or watering their plants. Acts of service mean you give up your time to help another.

  • Perhaps someone you know has had a stressful time recently, why not offer to babysit, pet sit or do a grocery run for them.... this is a great way to show a dear friend your support.
  • Do you live with your significant other? Offer to do extra chores that week so they can take a break.
  • Surprise them with their favourite meal, or a nice cup of tea.

Receiving gifts

For those whose love language is receiving gifts, presents are a tangible way to show your love. For example if you choose a meaningful gift for your partner, it shows them that you understand them deeply.

  • Want to show your partner how much they mean to you? Why not send them out our “Date Night In” care package.
  • Maybe your mum deserves a bit of TLC. Our self-care package is the perfect gift for busy mums who need to be reminded to take some time for themselves.
  • Do you know someone who’s expecting? Sending them our pregnancy self-care package is brilliant way to remind them to prioritize their wellbeing.

Quality time

This about sharing uninterupted time with another person, if someone's love language is quality time it means they show their love and affection by spending dedicated time with their loved one.

  • Schedule a no technology night with your partner, this way you won’t be distracted by your phones and spend quality time together.
  • Organise a board game night with your friends who maybe you haven’t seen in a while
  • Go out to dinner with your family and ask them to update you on everything.

Physical touch

If your love language is physical touch then that means you prefer physical expressions of love (such as hugging or kissing) over other expressions of love such as compliments or gifts.

  • When you’re out and about with your partner in public put your arm around them or hold their hand.
  • Give them a hug or a kiss.
  • Take them out for a night of dancing.
